Voice over and microphone technique workshop by AudioFX
The “Voice Over and Microphone Technique” course provides the essentials for anyone looking to pursue work as a voice over artist for announcer work, commercials or for actors wanting to ensure they have the core skills to enable them to confidently work in a sound studio when required.

Run by AudioFX (www.audiofx.co.nz) the course includes modules on microphone technique, audio creativity plus voice tuition from highly experienced voice talent. Learn about the ideas behind the scripts with audio creative writers and your engineer will provide practical hands on training of how to best work in the sound studio. Classes are kept to a maximum of ten students so the course provides plenty of one on one time with your tutors and you get to take home some of your recordings!

At the end of the workshop you will be provided a certificate of attendance outlining the training undertaken plus we will email you the voice files from your final recording session. All participants are provided a discounted voice show reel session (must be booked within six weeks of course completion) and may book additional private tutoring. This five hour workshop is provided with a range of dates and times, both in working hours 9.30am to 3pm, or split over two evenings 6pm to 8.30pm, and also on select Saturday’s from 10am to 3.30pm. About your tutors:
Debbie Silvey: Voice over artist.
Debbie has a wealth of experience providing her voice over talent for radio, TV, messages on hold and any other audio channel you care to name! An accomplished character voice artist and jingle singer Debbie is also a former vocalist and guitarist for Garageland. Debbie brings a diverse range of audio skills to the programme and will help you to identify and promote your natural voice skills.
Bob Gentil: Voice over artist.
From his work back in the hey days of Radio Hauraki Bob has since hosted on many of Auckland’s top rated radio stations. Now as a popular commercial voice over talent and respected as a true professional, Bob has an exceptional depth of experience and with his incredible voice skills is able to make even a weather report sell! Bob will show you how to turn a script into a powerful narrative – be it for film or commercial work.
Andy McBride: Audio engineer.
Andy is also a video editor and has over ten years as a Jazz Guitarist. Andy’s job is to make you feel relaxed in the studio so as to ensure you can deliver the best performance possible. Andy will take you through some of the technical aspects that come with working in an audio studio and with the engineer.
Anthony Hurst: Writer and producer, course subject: Audio and the creative process.
Anthony has worked in radio and audio creative since 1988 as a successful radio advertising consultant before setting up his own recording studio and advertising service in 1998. Anthony has worked in television, film and online and brings his enthusiasm of the audio creative process to the workshop.
Terms and Conditions
Payments: $50.00 deposit required to book workshop placement. Classes are strictly limited. Cancellation within 31 days of workshop commencement – deposit non refundable but may be used for a later workshop. Balance of payment required 14 days prior to workshop. In the event of cancellation 7 – 14 days prior to workshop 50% of payment is non refundable. In the event of cancellation within 6 days of workshop – no refund is available.
Payments may be used against later workshops. Audionet Limited reserves the right to move workshop dates if required. Should new date not be suitable – participant is able to credit workshop fees against any later date.
